My First Time Ever Moving into an Apartment Was After I Retired

I have always lived in a detached house. That means no condos, apartments or duplexes for my entire life. When my wife and I decided to move closer to the kids after selling our homestead, we looked online at an interactive website at apartments in Lewisville Texas. I could not really wrap my head around the idea of living in an apartment. I thought that I would be giving up so much control over everything. We had lived in a nice neighborhood since we got married. The kids grew up in the house we sold. How both of them ended up in the same town in Texas working for the same company after college is a story in itself.

Anyway, it was lonely back where we raised the kids. My wife and I enjoy each other’s company tremendously, but we also really wanted to see our grandkids more than just at Christmas or during summer vacation. We determined to move before they were out of diapers, and that is what we did. It was really the only way you were getting me into an apartment to live. However, after being at the Bluffs at Vista Ridge for a few months, I am enjoying not having to cut grass or spend hours on the landscape to keep it looking better than the neighbor’s. You know what I am talking about if you have a house. I also like the idea of not having to worry about fixing toilets or replacing shingles.

We now have all the time we want to spend with our grandchildren. We also have an apartment big enough to have the whole family over for the holidays. We are close enough now to be a grandparent’s daycare for two grandchildren. Our son had a baby girl with his wife, and our daughter has a baby boy with her husband. They are only a couple of months apart. The timing was perfect for us to be a part of their lives. The relaxing swimming pool is a nice feature after a full week with the grandkids too!
